Songs of the Month // October 2018

living dead but far from a zombie,

bite it bitter brains, i’m sustained off of my hobbies,

brittle bones, my mind zones,

my thoughts zip,

my lips zipped,

zapped, zonked, zen, zesty, and zealous,

no need to be jealous,

i’m just jellin’ with your hype,

i’m just feedin’ off your vibes,

rather than taking chunks out of your mind,

living dead but far from a zombie,

my dark circles run laps around your crop circles,

circle ’round and jerk away from conspiracy,

’cause ignorance is mighty spooky,

crooked capital cons caught calling out kooky,

gooky, gunky, lies sung as lullabies over witching hour skies,

i simply watch to write about all the ways in which they’ll cut ties,

living dead but far from a zombie,

my skin is peeling, my stomach’s reeling,

yet my heart remains beating,

it keeps in rhythm with your percussion,

and all of the sudden, i’m no longer paralyzed by potential repercussions,

sunnily, your singing stops me from fussin,

suddenly, i’m no longer pale-grey and grave, i’m flushed straight blushin’,

been over a year, beyond a official my dear, yet i swear i’m still crushin’,

itty bitty giddy giggles,

your love trickles down my spine,

and for just a second, i’m tricked into believing i’m still alive

Songs of the Month // September 2018

sunflower, sunflower, sunflower

empower me, sunflower,

shower me, sunflower,

nourish me, sunflower,

grow with me, sunflower,

i’ll shed my leaves to preserve my pedals,

i’ll bloom, but only for you,

bury me beneath sheets of rain,

reign cause you’re cherished, boo,

i value you as my sun, i’m your flower, true

colors bleed through,

seep through,

my skin is cellophane,

seep through, flooded by more rain,

but i don’t care if i never see the sun again,

umbrella, shelter, keep me warm,

hold me together from the outside,

ride along with me, a1 since day1 chillin by the wayside,

chillin’ where i reside,

hold me together from the inside,

sunflower, sunflower, sunflower,

i grow callous before i cower,

beneath moonlight,

imposter moonlit by false identities,

sunflower, sunflower, sunflower,

i’ll shed my leaves to preserve my pedals,

i’ll bury myself beneath lyrical riddles,

i’ll bloom, but only for you,

sunflower, sunflower, sunflower

Deciduous (Draft)

although leaves change w/ the season,
my roots remain the same,
despite these shades of fading green,
i’m tethered to this earth,
so let my seeds disperse

Songs of the Month // August 2018

tripped now i’m fallin’,

off trees like it’s already autumn,

leafing over new starts as if i haven’t already blossomed,

sleepin’ on my passions as if i’m playin’ possum,

sleepin’ playin’ passive as if time isn’t passin’,

as if getting older doesn’t diminish the weight of your accomplishments,

cause at least you’re still acomplishin’ shit?

sit,

still too long and i drift to sleep,

but only if the sun’s out or else i can’t catch a wink,

lost in my own world all i ever do is think,

think we outta be connected by string can telephones,

step into my mind so i’m not all alone,

send you sweet nothings all night long,

through these string can telephones,

send you sweet nothings all night long,

through this string can telephone,

though let it be known,

your empathy breaks the bounds of telepathy,

somehow, you manage to see right through me,

ride my wave length,

tell me sweet nothings all day long,

we don’t need no string can telephone
